Many view fundraising as a necessary evil, but fundraising is ministry. In a world of materialism and greed, generosity is a powerful force to set people free and help the giver grow in their faith. Plus, it's a lot of fun! It connects people and allows them to be a part of something bigger than themselves. Fundraising is simply inviting people to be a part of what God is already doing. At Deep Roots, we love helping non-profit leaders and development professionals, unapologetically enter into the ministry of fundraising.
In 2008, Callie Picardo left investment banking and entered the world of charitable giving as Director of Giver Services for National Christian Foundation Kentucky. She began simply taking care of donor requests, processing checks and working in the database and moved to developing new donor relationships, deepening others, handling major gifts of stock, property and business interest and starting giving circles. After 6 years, she moved to Dayton, OH, where she now serves as VP for Development for United Theological Seminary. At United, Callie works with major donors, board members, alumni/ae and friends to raise funds for scholarships, capital projects, paying off debt and building the endowment.
Callie has a love for encouraging generosity. She founded Deep Roots Financial Coaching in 2010 to help others boldly encourage giving and fund the ministry God has placed on their heart.
Callie graduated Phi Beta Kappa with a BA in Business Administration from Rhodes College (Memphis, TN). She is a Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) with more than a decade of fundraising experience.
